ABA Therapy

WHAT IS ABA THERAPY?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapeutic approach based in the science of learning and behavior.  ABA applies the science of behavior to assist children with autism in reaching their full potential.  This includes teaching skills that are socially significant to the learner and their family.

ABA Therapy can:

  • Increase communication skills
  • Decrease undesired behavior
  • Teach new skills like toilet training or brushing teeth
  • Improve motor skills and coordination
  • Teach age appropriate play and leisure skills

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR ABA TREATMENT?

ABA services with Next Step are ideal for children ages 1-5, with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.  After an assessment process, one of our skilled Board Certified Behavior Analysts will develop a treatment plan tailored to meet the unique needs of your child.  Skill areas include communication, self-help, socialization, and the reduction of challenging behavior, among others.

OUR APPROACH

At Next Step, our qualified clinical team provides play-based ABA therapy to help children reach a range of developmental milestones to help them enter the least restrictive environment in kindergarten and beyond. Our team assesses strengths and weaknesses in a child’s verbal and communicative behavior and uses this information to guide their treatment plan. Each child receives one-on-one therapy in a fun, energetic environment with developmentally appropriate toys, games, and materials and frequent opportunities to engage with peers.
